Θα σταματήσεις να μιλάς επιτέλους; Τουλάχιστον ο Λονδρέζος Rory Phillips που έχει τινάξει το Trash στον αέρα μαζί με τον Erol Alkan και έχει μιξάρει (σχεδόν) τους πάντες, ξέρει να χρησιμοποιεί σωστά το ακουστικό τηλεφώνου που έγινε το trademark του: Για να βάζει μουσική και εσύ να χορεύεις ενώ συνεχίζεις να μιλάς. Το πιάνο που μιλάει από μόνο του. Πριν προβάλεις να πατήσεις πλήκτρο. Τα δάχτυλα που τρέχουν και σε κάνουν λιώμα. Σαν ferrari με σπασμένα φρένα. Ο μουσικός που μπορεί να παίζει Erik Satie και να σε κάνει να χορεύεις techno. Χωρίς να πάρεις ναρκωτικά. Ο αυτοδίδακτος Καναδός Chilly Gonzales (μιλάμε για μεγάλη φιγούρα) είναι ένας και μοναδικός. Όταν βαριέται (που βαριέται συχνά τελευταία) την ηλεκτρονική μουσική, απομονώνεται σ’ ένα δωμάτιο και παίζει solo piano. Όταν δεν συνεργάζεται με την αγαπημένη του Feist, την Peaches ή τον Mocky, μπορεί να παίξει 200 κομμάτια σε 27 ώρες, 3 λεπτά και 44 δευτερόλεπτα (ποτέ!!!) και να κάνει μια χαψιά το ρεκόρ Guinness (τα κατάφερε τον περασμένο Μάϊο). Όταν δεν περιοδεύει ανά τον κόσμο, συνεχίζει τις ηχογραφήσεις το νέο του album σε παραγωγή των Boys Noize που θα κυκλοφορήσει το 2010. Ο Gonzales μου θυμίζει τον δάσκαλο πιάνου που είχα στο γυμνάσιο. Με την διαφορά ότι έβγαζε καντίλες όταν άκουγε electronica, είχε γραμμένο κανονικά το Guinness και έβαζε περισσότερη μπριγιαντίνη στα μαλλιά – πόσες φορές τον είχα πάνω από το κεφάλι μου και αντί να παίξω Μπαχ, κολλούσαν τα δάχτυλα και φώναζα μπλιαχ! Ακόμη περιμένει να τελειώσω την αρμονία…
Το νέο έξοχο rework του Gonzales στο κομμάτι “Synthétiseur” των Γάλλων Housse De Racket (που θα μπορούσε να είναι και παιδιά του) είναι για την πάρτη σου μαζί με μερικά παλιότερα. Καιρός να ξεκινήσεις μαθήματα πιάνου ή καλύτερα πάτα play…

Available exclusively from Rough Trade where all 100 sleeves will be exhibited prior to release. “Foaming” was mixed by Philippe Zdar, and is backed with an amazing Memory Tapes version.
